By sea, it is the route people have used for a thousand years: out past the islands, into the fjords where the mountains come down to the water, and back to the open coast. We take three days over it, so nothing is rushed, and the captain sets each day’s pace by the weather and the light. MORE THAN A CRUISE ## An invitation *to Norway.* We are not selling a yacht. We are inviting you into a private Norway: behind the scenes, among the people who live here, to the small places no tour bus reaches. Helge, your host, has spent his life on this coast and knows the farmers, the fishermen and the stories that go with every island. It is the closest thing to being invited home, to a floating hotel in some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. ![Bergen](https://www.privatecruisenorway.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Bergen.jpg?width=2000&height=1250&name=Bergen.jpg) DAY ONE ### Bergen to the Hardangerfjord We cast off from Bryggen in the late morning, with the old Hanseatic wharf behind you, and sail south through the skerries towards the Hardangerfjord. Dinner aboard, at anchor in a quiet arm of the fjord. DAY TWO ### Hardanger, and on to Ryfylke A day deep in the Hardangerfjord, where orchards run down to the shore and the Folgefonna glacier sits high above Rosendal. In May the whole fjord is in blossom, and we stop at the farms for cider, juice and fruit straight from the trees. Visit the Barony in Rosendal, or simply stay aboard. We enter the Lysefjord early, under Preikestolen before the hikers reach the top, on past Hengjanefossen and the 4,444 steps of Flørli to Kjeragbolten, wedged high in the mountain. In the evening we bring you into Stavanger. *An example route. Every voyage is planned with you, and longer voyages are always welcome.* AT THE TABLE ## Every meal, *cooked on board.* On a multi-day charter your chef cooks every meal: breakfast on deck, a long lunch at anchor and dinner as the light goes. Local chefs, cooking with produce from the districts we sail through: fruit and cider from Hardanger, shellfish from the outer islands, and whatever the farms of Ryfylke have at its best that week. Instead of retracing your steps, sail south with us for three days along the coast and the fjords, and finish in Stavanger. From there, the way home is simple. 01 ### Fly home from Stavanger Stavanger Airport has daily connections to the US and the rest of the world via Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and London. No need to go back to Bergen. 02 ### Back to Bergen by air If your onward flight leaves from Bergen, the flight from Stavanger takes under an hour, with several departures every day. 03 ### By bus or by boat Prefer to stay on the ground or on the water? Coastal buses and ferries connect Stavanger and Bergen, and we are happy to help you plan the connection. 04 ### Stay on a few nights Some guests end with a few nights by the North Sea at The Bolder Wave before flying home. Entirely optional, and booked directly with The Bolder. QUESTIONS ## Before *you book* #### How long is the voyage? The voyage takes three days and two nights. Many guests add days in Hardanger or Ryfylke, and we are happy to plan a longer route. #### Who is on board? Your party, up to six guests overnight in three double cabins, and a crew of three: your captain, Helge as your host, and a chef. #### What if the weather is bad? The captain adjusts the route day by day. The fjords are sheltered, and the yacht is built for the North Sea. #### How do we get to Bergen? Bergen and Stavanger both have direct flights from London, Amsterdam and Copenhagen. We can arrange transfers to the quay. #### How do we get home from Stavanger? Most guests fly home directly from Stavanger, with connections to the US via Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam or London. If you need to return to Bergen, it is a short flight, or a scenic trip by coastal bus or ferry. We are happy to help you plan it. #### Can children come along? Yes.
